Natural finish with black painted cylinders. Engine comes with a cast cam cover, forged 3-5/8 big bore pistons and complete with a Super E carburetor kit, an S&S Super Stock ignition system and 3 5/8" x 4-1/2" stroke. This Alternator/Generator engine, is basically an Early Shovel engine on the right side, with all generator and timer drive gears. Engines come with a special reverse ignition timer drive gear so they can be used with late, 70-99 style, ignition systems since these drive in the opposite direction. With its late Shovel left side crankcase the more modern and dependable 70-84 style alternator charging system can be used. If a generator is not used it is an excellent place to install a spin-on oil filter. Another advantage, all 70-up 4-speed, 5 or even 6-speed transmissions, can be run.
Note: All S&S Shovelhead engines contain an Evolution style camshaft and tappets.
